In 1822 a Wesleyan Methodist congregation started worshipping in the new community of Brampton.

In 1865 they took a leap of faith and purchased a lot for $250.00. Two years later they opened a grand church, 40 by 60 feet in size with a bell tower topped by a steeple visible for some distance. As the congregation has grown over the years, so has the building. In 1887 the sanctuary was expanded on both sides to accommodate several hundred worshippers. As young people looked to the church for recreational activities in the earlier decades of the 1900's, Grace responded by building a large gym.

Past & Future

Today we continue to worship at Grace and provide space to many community groups. From AA groups to violin and yoga classes, the historic Grace United Church continues to serve the people of Brampton. Grace Place

In 2009 we began extensive renovation to the bricks and windows.  Plans are in place to update the heating system and elevator and to renovate the inside space so that we can meet the growing needs of the downtown community around us.  Most of the funds for these renovations have been contributed  by member of the church but we have been assisted by provincial government funding.
